3 Surprise teachers earn Fulton Homes honor

Lisa Bargainier at Imagine Schools at Rosefield, William Flesher of Valley Vista High School and Sally Slonina of Dysart Early Childhood Education Center have been name as Fulton Homes’ “Teacher of the Week” for three separate weeks in March.

During the last week of February the teachers learned of the honor while each was in their classroom doing their jobs.

This is the 14th consecutive year Fulton Homes has sponsored the educational program that honors Valley school teachers for their achievements. During the course of the school year, the program acknowledges teachers who go above and beyond for their students. Both schoolchildren and parents nominate their favorite educator each week for that teacher’s chance to win $300 from Fulton Homes and other prizes.

The chosen educator is announced each Friday from 6:20 to 7:20 a.m. on KNIX’s Ben and Matt in the Morning Show, heard at 102.5 FM. Students and parents can nominate their preferred teacher each week by visiting www.knixcountry.com, and submitting a brief form describing why their teacher deserves the distinct title.

In May a ‘Teacher of the Year’ will be chosen from the list of weekly winners, and he or she will be presented with a $1,000 check at a ceremony celebrating all the weekly winners. Based on the entries received, a panel of judges will select the champion and the teacher will be announced and commended with gifts at the year-end banquet.

“Every day these three wonderful teachers in Surprise have a positive effect on their students’ lives,” said Doug Fulton, CEO for Fulton Homes. “This is why we created the Teacher of the Week program 14 years ago; to honor and recognize the dedication of all teachers and educators.”
