El Mirage Youth Day

El Mirage will celebrate Youth Day from 5-9p.m. Jan.24 at the El Mirage City Plaza, 14010 N. El Mirage Rd.

A variety of activities and exhibitions are planned for kids 4 through 18, as well as opportunities for families to sign up their children for soccer, Little League, martial arts and football programs.

Friends of the Library will host a book sale to benefit the local library.

The event is sponsored in part by the Daily News- Sun/Surprise Today, Pratt’s Pets and APS.

Outdoor Adventure Family day @ White Tank Library & Park

After your Christmas of food, family celebrations and friends, you and your loved ones may want to enjoy an Outdoor Adventure Family Day!! A stress free, activity-loaded day of fun at the White Tank Mountain Regional Park and White Tank Branch Library. Please join us on Saturday, December 28th, 8 a.m.- 4p.m.

This new family event includes live animals, desert survival tips, yoga, archery, and horseback riding specials PLUS 3 guided hikes: easy,Moderate and challenging. The Balloon Lady will be on hand to create twisted balloons for kids. You are welcome to savor edibles from a food vendor or two although you may want to bring your own picnic lunch!

10a.m.-3p.m. Liberty Wildlife ( Nature Center)

Noon-3p.m. Pond Hike, 5 Miles Hike- Moderate ( Starting at the Nature Center)

10:15a.m. -11:15a.m. Yoga!

Noon- 4p.m. AZ Balloon Lady ( Library)

1p.m. & 2:30p.m. Achery 101 – Basic Training, All Ages ( Competitive Track)

2-4p.m. Books and Brushes ( Library)

Cost: $6 per vehicle

There is no charge to visit and enjoy the library and nature center. The White Tank Branch Library & Nature Center is located at 20304 W. White Tank Rd., Waddell.

Thanksgiving Story Time!

Looking for a way to entertain your young visitors over the Thanksgiving Holiday? Children and their families are invited to a special story time at 10a.m. on Saturday Nov. 30th at the library. Youngster and Oldsters alike will enjoy the stories and kids will take home some neat souvenirs.

Summer Reading Kick-off Programs

There are many events and activities scheduled for summer reading, plus, there are numerous incentives for participating, including a free book for individuals who complete the program. This year, children, teens AND adults can enjoy various aspects of summer reading.

Free Ice Skating lessons

Escape the Arizona sun and receive a free 30-minute introductory ice skating lesson. Following Saturday’s lesson a public skate is offered from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Free skate rental included.
