130th Annual Prescott Frontier Days & World’s Oldest Rodeo
The World’s Oldest Rodeo® honors legends from the past 130 years
Rodeo takes place from June 28 through July 4 in Prescott, AZ
PRESCOTT: Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. is pleased to present the 130th annual World’s Oldest Rodeo® in Prescott, Arizona. Independence Day and the Fourth of July week in Prescott is traditionally the busiest time of year that generates economic benefits for the entire region.
With world-class rodeo and family-friendly events occurring for almost seven straight days, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® is truly Prescott’s most anticipated event of the year. People come from all over the world to visit Prescott during Prescott Frontier Days and to be a part of rich-western culture and history that stems back to July 4, 1888.
This year, to honor the many legends who have been a part of our historic rodeo for the past 130 years, Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. is solely using images in advertising and promotions for the World’s Oldest Rodeo of past rodeo champions who have called Prescott home or became rodeo champions at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds. With the significant milestone of 130 years, it is only appropriate to honor legends who live among us (now or in the past).
“It is truly an honor to have the tremendous pool of professional rodeo talent in our arena, year after year. It is exciting to honor the Legends Who Live Among Us this year,” said J.C. Trujillo, general manager of Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc.
The theme for the annual rodeo parade is Legends Live Among Us and will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 9 a.m. in downtown Prescott. Sponsored by Barrett Propane.
To kick off the parade in the proper way, Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. will be presenting the parade grand marshal with a rodeo legend Monty Henson (a.k.a. Hawkeye Henson) a three-time Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) world-champion saddle bronc rider.
Known for his flying dismount and infamous eagle feather in his hat, Hawkeye’s rodeo career was impressive to say the least…he won three world titles in 1975, 1976 and 1982 and place or won almost every major rodeo in the country. Inducted in the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1994.
With record attendance and sponsors at an all-time high, this year will be no exception of another successful week of world-class rodeo with family activities celebrating western history that makes Prescott shine.
The annual rodeo dance will be held in downtown Prescott at the BMO Harris bank parking lot on the corner of Sheldon and Montezuma. The dance will begin on Thursday, June 28 through Saturday, July 1. Thursday night is family night so bring your entire family to kick up your heels! Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the door.
Celebrate with us and we look forward to seeing you at the World’s Oldest Rodeo®!

OZ
Presented by East Valley Children’s Theatre
Music & Lyrics by Bill Francoeur
The timeless “Wizard of Oz” tale relates the story of a cyclone that carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz. When Dorothy’s house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch’s powerful silver slippers. From there, Baum’s lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz. While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister. Eventually, Glinda the Good Witch helps Dorothy defeat the evil witch and her winged monkeys. The great and powerful wizard grants Dorothy’s friends their wishes and of course, helps Dorothy return to Kansas.
